How to Make a Computer Virus

Posted by name on May 20, 2023

Since 1986 when the first malware code that copies itself was released computer viruses have caused your computers and devices sick. Some can brick your device, while others could slow down your computer and steal your data. In most cases, if you take action quickly, you can remove the virus from your device.

A virus is a piece of software that, just like the flu virus, is able to reproduce by attaching itself to programs and files then infecting them. They then produce copies of themselves. Once the virus has infected the program, it will be spread to other programs and devices connected to the same network. The viruses can cause everything from causing damage to your system such as stealing passwords and credit card information deletion, infecting programs, and taking over your computer completely.

Depending on the type of virus, it could spread from one machine to another through text and email attachments, Internet file downloads, or social media scam links. Viruses can even infect mobile devices and smartphones by hiding inside of shady app downloads. Some viruses have a playful nature and are designed to make laughter as well as others are designed for financial gain.

Creating and spreading a virus is considered a crime in most countries. If you’re interested about the process, you can learn to create a basic virus using Notepad along with other tools. It’s not for the faint of heart however, it’s an interesting way to test your coding skills. You’ll have to decide how your virus will behave once it has infected the system. This could be anything from displaying a red alert to delete data or destroying it or even contacting the contacts lists of your friends.
